Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
